Example sentence: Jy moet noordwaarts gaan om by die stad uit te kom. (You need to go north to get out of the city.)

  • Suid (South)

Example sentence: Die strand is geleë suid van die hotel. (The beach is located south of the hotel.)

  • Oos (East)

Example sentence: Die son kom op in die ooste elke oggend. (The sun rises in the east every morning.)

  • Wes (West)

Example sentence: Die son sak in die weste elke aand. (The sun sets in the west every evening.)

  • Voor (Front/Forward)

Example sentence: Loop vooruit en jy sal die ingang sien. (Walk forward, and you will see the entrance.)

  • Agter (Backward/Behind)

Example sentence: Die motor staan agter die huis. (The car is parked behind the house.)

  • Links (Left)

Example sentence: Slaan links by die volgende verkeerslig af. (Turn left at the next traffic light.)

  • Regs (Right)

Example sentence: Jy moet regs draai by die stopstraat. (You need to turn right at the stop sign.)

  • Opwaarts (Upward)

Example sentence: Klim opwaarts om die uitsigpunt te bereik. (Climb upward to reach the viewpoint.)

Person B: Ja, jy moet suidwaarts loop op hierdie straat. Die biblioteek is aan jou linkerhand.

(Yes, you need to walk south on this street. The library is on your left.)

Person A: Baie dankie! En waar is die park?

(Thank you very much! And where is the park?)

Person B: Jy moet na die weste gaan. Die park is aan jou regterkant.

(You need to go west. The park is on your right.)

Person A: Ek waardeer jou hulp. Dit maak die oriëntasie baie makliker.

(I appreciate your help. It makes orientation much easier.)
