Exercise 2: Story
In a picturesque cottage nestled in the heart of the forest, three bears named Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear lived a contented life. One sunny morning, while the bears ventured out for a leisurely stroll, a curious little girl named Goldilocks happened upon their home.
Enticed by the delicious aroma wafting through the open windows, Goldilocks couldn’t resist exploring the inviting cottage. She entered the cozy living room, where she found three bowls of steaming porridge—one large, one medium, and one small.
Curiosity getting the better of her, Goldilocks sampled a spoonful from the largest bowl. It was too hot for her delicate tongue. She then tried the porridge from the medium-sized bowl, but it was too cold for her liking. Finally, she tasted the porridge from the smallest bowl, and it was just right—perfectly warm and comforting. Goldilocks happily devoured the entire bowl.
With a satisfied tummy, Goldilocks proceeded to the next room, where she discovered three chairs arranged in a row. She sat on the largest chair, but it was too hard and uncomfortable. She then settled onto the medium-sized chair, but it was too soft and squishy. Finally, she sat on the smallest chair, and it was just right—comfortable and snug. However, as Goldilocks leaned back, the chair broke under her weight.
Undeterred by the mishap, Goldilocks continued her exploration and entered the bedroom. Inside, she spotted three beds—each of a different size. She climbed onto the largest bed but found it too firm. She then tried the medium-sized bed, but it was too soft, sinking her into a sea of pillows. Finally, she lay down on the smallest bed, and it was just right—cozy and inviting. Nestled in the embrace of the small bed, Goldilocks drifted into a peaceful slumber.
Meanwhile, the three bears returned home to find their cottage disturbed. Papa Bear roared in anger, Mama Bear let out a sorrowful sigh, and Baby Bear burst into tears. They noticed the bowls of porridge, the chairs, and the beds—all showing signs of intrusion. Something or someone had trespassed into their humble abode.
As they investigated further, they found Goldilocks fast asleep in Baby Bear’s bed. The little girl woke to the sight of the bears, startled but unharmed. Recognizing her mistake, Goldilocks apologized profusely for her intrusion and explained that she had only been driven by her curiosity.
The bears, moved by Goldilocks’ sincere remorse, forgave her. They realized that while their belongings had been disturbed, no real harm had been done. Together, they shared a warm meal of porridge, mended the broken chair, and laughed at the unexpected turn of events.
The tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears teaches us the importance of respect, empathy, and the consequences of our actions. It reminds us to seek permission, appreciate the belongings of others, and treat their spaces with care.
And so, Goldilocks bid farewell to the three bears, forever cherishing the lessons she had learned. The bears, too, continued their peaceful life, their cottage filled with love, forgiveness, and a newfound understanding of the value of sharing.
